- OpenAI reports a major jump in legacy-language coding. At maximum reasoning effort, GPT-6 Astra averaged an 87.4% test-pass rate across 20 languages on MultiLangBench, versus about 38% for GPT-5.6 Terra. GPT-6.1 Sol reached 97.9% on OpenAI’s COBOL-to-C++, Java, Kotlin, Python or Rust migration benchmark under the same reasoning setting.
