  • Mandiant/GTIG published post-exploitation detail on CVE-2026-88772 in Citrix NetScaler ADC/Gateway, describing a pre-auth DTLS record-parsing path that corrupts heap memory in the NetScaler Packet Processing Engine and yields root on the underlying FreeBSD. The toolkit includes WHIPSHOT, a PHP web shell hiding Base64 C2 payloads inside native HTTP headers, and SLAPSHOT, a Python tunneler used to proxy into internal networks for recon and credential theft. Victims span government, financial services, technology, education and legal/professional services in North America and Europe, with activity ongoing since at least early September (Google Cloud, BleepingComputer) (earlier coverage). Exploitation has broadened since public write-ups and PoCs landed — Kevin Beaumont reports spray-and-pray scanning and, from his own firmware version scanning, fewer than 10% of boxes patched. CERT.dk has issued a national advisory (CERT.dk). GTIG notes it does not possess the exploit code; its reconstruction is from frontline telemetry. · Vulnerabilities & Exploits
