ConnectWise Cloud Backup (formerly SkyKick) is the pivot in an active Microsoft 365 supply-chain compromise. Microsoft Threat Intelligence says the actor abused the multitenant app's existing consent — including Directory.ReadWrite.All — to obtain access tokens, observing broad successful service-principal authentication from 144.172.64[.]128 on October 15, followed by Microsoft Graph reconnaissance and attempts to add new credentials to the service principal as a backdoor, which survives revocation of the original compromised credential (Microsoft Threat Intelligence). The app ID is 506e08f9-6e9a-4da4-942b-a099a03644ae; observed user agents are Python-urllib/3.12 and python-requests/2.31/2.34.2. Huntress, which raised the alarm on October 16, says the actor signed into 173 tenants, up from its initial 162 (Huntress, BleepingComputer, The Hacker News).

AhsayCBS: the "fixed" version isn't. Huntress now says Ahsay 10.3.4, the current latest build, is still vulnerable to CVE-2026-105133 (auth bypass, public exploit) and CVE-2026-105134 (command injection), so the chain remains unpatched (earlier coverage). Attacks from 7 October across at least five customer environments dropped JSP webshells and XMRig disguised as edge.exe, persisted via a MicrosoftEdgeUpdateSvc service running a renamed NSSM, and used what Huntress believes is an AI-assisted PowerShell script that halts mining when Task Manager opens and kills it at 18:00 or after an hour overnight; one host also got the vulnerable WinRing0x64.sys driver. The Shai-Hulud / ChainDrop worm jumped to AI infrastructure. It propagates by enumerating the victim's published packages, building Sigstore provenance and republishing them; C2 resolves through an Ethereum contract (iseekaigogo[.]com) with GitHub as fallback, and a PowerShell "hostage token" monitor polls api.github.com/user to check the stolen token is still valid. StyleSmuggler now has a payload profile. Sansec reports the first exploitation on 4 September against a target running the latest security updates; the exploit abuses Magento's template system via PHP code injection to generate a fake "failed-payment" email that triggers execution, installing a small Rust backdoor disguised as [kworker/u:8:0], or in newer samples as fc-cache under ~/.cache/fontconfig/, with a cron job every 30 minutes for persistence. Earlier samples beaconed over TLS/WebSockets; newer ones disguise C2 as NTP, sending UDP to port 123 with time-server-styled hostnames, and check TracerPid — if tracing is active the malware installs but stays silent. Sansec flags an unexpected surge of "Payment Transaction Failed Reminder" emails as an indicator and recommends disabling GraphQL until Adobe ships a fix (BleepingComputer, SecurityWeek). @Dinosn claims exploitation attempts have been "massive" and says he will publish a PoC and lab after a patch lands — treat the scale claim as unverified (earlier coverage).

Fixed builds are 6.49.21, 7.23.4 (use 7.23.5 on long-term, which corrects an IPv6 DHCP regression), and 7.24.2. MikroTik's three same-day RouterOS builds (7.23.4 long-term, 7.24.2 stable, 6.49.21) shipped with a deliberately vague "important security update" banner — and one changelog line present in all three branches, absent from 7.23.3: "ssh - refactor SSH internal processes". Diffing the NPK packages, npratley.net documents three bugs and two chains: a low-exponent RSA signature forgery reaching an overflow in mtget with confirmed controlled code execution, and — matched to an active-exploitation support trace — an SSH username of -2 reaching a legacy file-descriptor login transport, letting a read-only session supply its own policy mask and escalate to the full RouterOS policy set, producing exactly the campaign-shaped ops account defenders have been finding. The author is explicit about the boundary he did not cross: he has not reproduced a stock, credential-free way to make SSH accept literal user -2. The work was AI-driven and took roughly six hours. A MikroTrick PoC is public, tracked as CVE-2026-67276. CERT Polska's warning went out 5 September with attacks dating to at least 2 September and no victim count; CERT-LV described mass attacks (@campuscodi); SANS ISC says assume compromise, because attackers are adding accounts that survive the patch (earlier coverage).

StyleSmuggler, the unpatched Magento/Adobe Commerce RCE, gained a second implant build on 6 September: Sansec reports arm64 and x86-64 variants that masquerade as fc-cache instead of [kworker/u:8:0], copy themselves to ~/.cache/fontconfig/fc-cache, install a cron entry restarting them twice an hour, and disguise C2 as time sync. The Rust backdoor beacons to 99.84.67.186; Sansec says it has no indication the backdoor has been weaponised yet and that no other vendor detects it. The unauthenticated chain reproduces on clean 2.4.7, 2.4.8 and 2.4.9, and the first victim was on 2.4.6-p15 with July and August patches applied. Adobe's next scheduled security release is 8 September; it is not yet known whether it covers this. Interim mitigation is disabling GraphQL (earlier coverage).

BTR.sys, Microsoft's signed Windows Defender Boot-Time Removal driver, can be repurposed as a trusted kernel primitive. It is a one-shot component that decrypts an RC4-encrypted transaction list from an NTFS Alternate Data Stream and executes Ring-0 operations; an attacker with SeLoadDriverPrivilege can craft a valid encrypted config and load it early via a transient "Boot Bus Extender" service to bypass Tamper Protection, delete EDR/AV components before they start, drop drivers, and persist (Check Point Research). No in-the-wild abuse observed yet. Florian Roth notes MSRC declined immediate servicing because admin rights are already required, and that the usual mitigation — the vulnerable driver blocklist — is awkward here because the driver is Microsoft's own (@cyb3rops); @ibell63 predicts a "fix" that swaps the hardcoded universal RC4 key for a low-entropy derived one, leaving pre-computed config files viable.

Bitter APT (APT-C-08) is hitting maritime and government officials with a .accdr file disguised as a PDF: AutoExec VBA fires on open, decodes payloads in memory via MSXML2, side-loads a DLL through signed fsquirt.exe, and plants a 17-minute scheduled task masquerading as a Chrome updater that pipes C2 responses straight into cmd.exe. The DLL runs TLS-callback anti-analysis and WMI/BIOS VM checks before fetching stage two. Nextron Research

AryStinger, a previously undocumented Linux botnet, hijacks EoL routers and QNAP NAS as a covert reconnaissance-and-proxy network rather than for DDoS/mining. It uses an Executor/Controller model, n-day CVEs (CVE-2013-3307, CVE-2016-5681, CVE-2025-11837), Protobuf+XOR C2, and Dropbear/gs-netcat persistence; 4,300+ routers confirmed (mostly South Korea and China, ~75% D-Link DIR-850L), initial samples at 0/VirusTotal.
